MEASLES IN SHIP
No Risk To Children (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, October 31. There was no risk of New Zealand children getting measles as a result of contact with children who had suffered from the disease in the liner Flavia, a port health official said in Auckland today. Twenty-one cases of measles were reported by the ship’s medical staff when the liner arrived on Saturday afternoon from Europe, Panama and the Pacific Islands.
Nine of the patients, ail children, were allowed to disembark after a medical examination. A ship’s doctor said none of the children was regarded as a medical risk.
The other patients will disembark in Australia. The liner, which sailed for Sydney today, carried 1340 passengers. About 430 disembarked at Auckland and 230 joined the ship.
Missiles Down Plane.— United States officials reported yesterday that another American plane had been shot down over North Vietnam by surface-to-air missiles.—Washington, October 29.
