Southerners At Hutt Park Strong Tonight
Canterbury stables should have a good innings at the Masterton Trotting Club’s annual meeting at Hutt Park Raceway tonight. They are not represented by large numbers, but have at least one form prospect in every race.
Scottish Piper, from C. V. May’s Methven team, should make a bold bid to win the Spring Handicap, the first leg of the oncourse double. He was a splendid fourth at Motukarara at his most recent start and he will have to show very little improvement to win. Highland Flight and John Robin are two speedy North Island trotters capable of making a race of it with Scottish Piper. Emily will be a prospect in the two-mile Stewards' Handicap, the second leg of the on-course double, while her
stablemates, Shinto, On Probation and Indecision should show to advantage in their respective races. The T.A.B. double will be run on the Masterton Cup and the Geo. McKenzie Memorial Handicap. Fair weather is forecast and the track will be fast.
