SHEARING RECORD

Australian Wins Title (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MELBOURNE, Oct. 29. The Australian Wool Board shearing instructor, Mr Kevin Sarre, has broken the world Merino sheep-shearing record. Earlier this week he sheared 346 sheep in seven hours 48 minutes, to beat the former world figure of 329 set by a Nevz South Wales shearer earlier this year. Mr Sarre was shearing in a three-man team which sheared 824 sheep in the day. All three used the Australian Wool Board’s newlydeveloped tally-hi shearing technique and each tallied a personal “best” on the day. Mr Sarre won the world title from 650 shearers in NewZealand two years ago.
