(N.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON, Oct. 26. |The former All Black and Waikato representative! Rugby player, I. J. I Clarke, was reported to be ! ] “much better” by the] Waikato Hospital this) ' morning. ]] Mr Clarke was injured on Friday while helping a ! working bee at the Hoe-o-Tainui Primary School to erect a volley board for tennis practice. A large pre-stressed concrete j wall was being lifted into :i position when a loop of reinforcing steel snapped and the wall fell to the ;j ground. A six-foot-long bar. used to support the board, was flung out and I struck Mr Clarke in the stomach.
