Poor Response

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright)

WELLINGTON, October 25. Only about 50 firms have replied to 1000 letters sent by the 50 Plus Association of New Zealand to business firms throughout the country. The organiser, Mr R. G. Nelson, said the response was very disappointing. The non-profit association asked for donations from the firms to help its work. They want to find jobs for retired persons at 60. A similar association in

Victoria has brought back to work 7000 persons in 10 years. Mr Nelson said New Zealand was short of labour and the scheme would help the people and the Government. The letters were sent out a month ago. The Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake), the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Nordmeyer), and Sir Walter Nash are members of the association’s committee.
