TV SIGNALS FROM CHCH.

Experiment At , Murchison (N.Z. Press Association) NELSON, Oct. 25. Murchison viewers will be watching Christchurch television tonight if an experiment this afternoon is successful. A big team left for Mount Murchison early today to switch-over the translator to pick up Christchurch signals instead of signals from Wellington. The team carried a spare translator with which it was hoped the signals might be beamed on to Denniston and the West Coast. About 18 sets are licensed in Murchison. The team, led by Mr R Fairbairn, of Richmond, the Murchison Televiewers’ Association’s technical consultant, has a radiotelephone link with Murchison so the result of the switch-over can be known immediately. If the signal is stable the experiment will be continued for at least a month, on a trial basis.
