SOUTH ISLAND BODIES
Annual Conference In Hokitika
The Minister of Works (Mr Allen) has accepted an invitation to speak at the annual conference of the South Island Local Bodies' Association in Hokitika on November 4.
The conference will be opened on the previous day by the member of Parliament for Westland (Mr P. Blanchfield). Many of the delegates will go on from the three-day conference to the official opening of the Haast Pass highway on November 6.
Because of the local body elections some of the constituent councils and other local bodies have not been able to appoint their delegates; but there will be good reresentation. Hokitika has the conference as part of its centennial year.
