SATELLITE PURCHASE

Corporation’s Plans

(N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright)

WASHINGTON, October 19. The Communications Satellite Corporation—of which Australia is a member —is planning to buy four Super Early Bird satellites for 11,730,000 dollars. The contract, filed for approval with the Federal Communications Commission, also provides an option for the purchase of as many as 15 satellites.

The satellites are larger, more powerful and more versatile than the Early Bird spacecraft now orbiting above the central Atlantic.
