Social Credit Ball

The Social Credit Ball was held at the Brevet Club on Saturday evening, against a background of spring blossom, and festoons of balloons. Guests were welcomed by the secretary of the ball committee. Mrs Louise Forster. Specially invited guests included the Mayor (Mr Manning) and Mrs Manning; the Town Clerk (Mr C. Bowie) and Mrs Bowie; and the president emeritus of the Social Credit League, Miss M. King (Dunedin). Mrs Manning wore a fulllength gown of cornflower delustered satin, with sequintrimmed neckline. Mrs Bowie chose a haze green delustered satin dress with a beadembroidered neckline. Mrs Forster wore a formal gown of lilac French embroidered satin. The fitting empire line was finished with a deep roll collar.
