BAD WEATHER AT McMURDO
Supply Flights Disrupted
Bad weather at McMurdo Sound disrupted supply flights between Christchurch and the Antarctic yesterday. A United States Navy Super Constellation which left Christchurch at 9 a.m. was late yesterday afternoon expected to be diverted to Hallett station, about 350 miles from McMurdo Sound, because of turbulent weather. A United States Military Air Transport Service Globemaster, which left Christchurch at 9.30 a.m., turned round at 3.41 because of the weather report from McMurdo Sound and headed back to Christchurch. Another Globemaster is being held at Christchurch because of a damaged propeller. It will remain here until a replacement propeller has been flown in from the United States.
