Prices Rise Again
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 15. The alii group consumers’ price index for the third quarter of 1965 is up 17 points—from 1306 to 1323, according to the Department of Statistics. The 17 points represents a 1.3 per cent increase in the average level of retail prices between the second and third quarters of the year. The 323 points increase since 1955 brings the ten-year increase to nearly 33 per cent. In the tobaceo-alchohol group the recent rise in the price of beer accounted largely for a five point increase.
Fruit, vegetables and eggs rose 4} points, and meat and fish two points. The rent sub-group rose 1( points and home ownership showed a one point rise.
