New Police Officer

■ Chief Inspector C. L. Scanlan, officer-in-charge of the Nelson police district, has been promoted to superintendent and will be in charge of the uniform branch at Christchurch. Mr Scanlan has been in the police force since 1936 and served as a constable at Reefton early in his career. He will replace Superintendent J. H. Quartley, who retired earlier this month.
