POSSESSION OF DRUG
r ( v Z. Press Association * AUCKLAND, Sept. 22. A factory worker who was found in possession of Indian hemp, a dangerous drug, was sentenced to gaol for three months when he appeared be fore Mr J R Drummond S.M.. today.
Garry Paul Ross, aged 24. appeared for sentence after pleading guilty last week to being in possession of the drug
Counsel. Mr H. T. D. Knight said that a matchbox containing the drug had been found in the grounds of Ross’s home. He had intended to dispose of it but had forgotten to do so. Ross “lacked the aggressiveness” to be involved m drug trafficking. Mr Knight said.
The Magistrate said Ross was an adult of some worldly experience and knew the effect of drugs on people His explanation for possession <>f the dr. g was an unlikelv one and even if it was true he should have disposed of ‘he drug immediately Mr Knight lodged an appeal against the sentence and Ross ? was released on bail pend- ■ mg tile hearing.
