RESETTLEMENT WORK

Gratitude For Aid

By N.Z

“I can only say that we are immensely indebted to the churches in New Zealand for the very fine work that they are doing with so much imagination and enthusiasm in the resettlement of refugees,” says a letter from the World Council of Churches received in Christchurch by the National Council of Churches. In an earlier letter, the Rev. D. M. Taylor, general secretary of the National Council of Churches in New Zealand, thanked the World Council for the interest and encouragement it had given to the work of resettlement in New Zealand.

Mr Taylor said that the churches in New Zealand had every reason to be proud of the work done in Southland and elsewhere, and he expressed optimism for the future.

“We hope that there will be no set-backs and that the refugees and other migrants who are making a new life in New Zealand may continue to be happy here,” he said.
