SOFTBALL TOUR
5 Leading U.S. Players (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 21. A party of American softball players will make a today coaching tour of New Zealand later this y<,ar. The group will comprise five of America’s best players, a manager and an umpire. A New Zealand Softball i Association executive memjber, Mr B. P. Walsh, aninounced details of the tour I today. He said the Americans would start their tour in Christchurch on October 29. They would be in Wellington on November 2-3-4 and in Auckland on November 5-6-7. The group is visiting the ! Dominion as ->art of m Pacific tour sponsored by the United States State Department. Mr Walsh said that the Americans, with the addition of three local players, would probably play against representative sides. “This will give us an idea of their standard and also a basis on which to judge our own,” he said. The Americans are Mr R. Hurts (manager), G. Pearson (pitcher), J. Noce (catcher). D. Mason (in-fielder and coach). R. Ramos (out-fielder and pitcher), C. Walker (infielder) and J. Hord (umpire).
