GUNNERS INJURED

Light Flesh Wounds

(Special Crspdt N.Z PA.) B.EN CAT (S. Vietnam), September 21 New Zealand’s V-Force casualty list rose to five late on Monday when two gunners with an artillery observation party attached to an Australian infantry company were slightly wounded by what were understood to be fragments of exploding

grenades. It is not yet known if either gunner will have to be brought out for medical treatment: the wounds are only shallow flesh injuries. One gunner was hit in the forearm and the other was hit by three grenade fragments. Further details are not yet available. A week ago today, two New Zealand gunners were killed when a Viet Cong landmine exploded beneath their vehicle. Another gunner was hit in the leg when the Viet Cong made an attack on Bien Iloa air base on July .31.
