Leak From Tanker

Fire engines stood by for more than four hours at the oil wharf at Lyttelton, on Sunday night and early yesterday morning until fire danger from petrol jh the harbour had passed. The harbourmaster (Captain A. R. Champion) and Harbour Board employees were also on duty. The alarm was given about 11.43 p.m. on Sunday when petrol leaked from the motor tanker Norborn into the harbour. Two fire engines from Lvttelton and one engine from Woolston stood by until 4 a.m.

The 10,261-ton Norborn arrived at Lyttelton from the Persian Gulf on Sunday. She sails for Wellington today.
