Market Gets Lift; Most Moves Narrow
Rises moved ahead of falls yesterday to give a lift to share trading on New Zealand exchanges, but most upward moves were narrow.
Among New Zealand shares Rothmans rose 3d to a peak 31s 3d, while N.Z. Forest Products, up 2d at 22s lOd, and United Empire Box, up Id at 12s 9d, made further advances. John Burns lost 9d to 28s, Mannings Is 3d to 255, and Winstone rights 9d to Ils 6d.
Marginal gains by overseas stocks took in A.N.Z. Bank. Kauri. Ansett, G. J. Coles, Woolworths and C.R.A. ex dividend. B.H.P. eased 2d to 435. Colonial Sugar lost Is 3d to 45s 3d, 1.C.1.A.N.Z. 1s to 38s 6d and Waltons 4d to 8s Id.
