A 24-year-old man, Robert Morton Williamson, unemployed, was convicted and fined £25 today for possessing a cigarette containing marijuana. He pleaded guilty before Mr M. B. Scully, S.M., to having the dangerous drug cannabis savita in his possession on September 13. Detective - Sergeant 1). Winter said Williamson’s house was searched yesterday under warrant and a reefer cigarette found. Williamson claimed he had taken it from a young girl at the Sorrento Coffee Lounge last Saturday night. He admitted having smoked a number of the cigarettes about three years ago and it was evident he had an extensive knowledge of the drug marijuana, said Sergeant Winter. Counsel, Mr D. S. Deacon, said Williamson had taken the reefer from the girl to remove the temptation from her.

The Magistrate said there was no evidence before him that Williamson was what was known as a “dropper.”
