SERVICE AWARDS
Special Army Parade Three non-commissioned officers who have completed a minimum of 18 years’ service with the Army without a stain on their records were presented with long-service and good conduct awards by Brigadier T. C. Campbell, the district commander of Southern Military District, at a special parade in King Edward Barracks yesterday. Warrant Officer (2) E. W. Hanna, of the 2nd Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment went to Japan as a company sergeant major with the 2nd N.Z.E.F. in 1946, and also served in Malaya with the 2nd Battalion.
Staff Sergeant R. H. Gearry, a school instructor for the R.N.Z.I.R. in Area 10, was one of the senior non-commis-sioned officers who returned to El Alamein in 1960 for the unveiling of the war memorial there. Sergeant J. H. Davis, of the Royal New Zealand Signals, had a break in his Army service to join the Malayan police. After he rejoined the Regular Force, he returned to Malaya with the Ist Battalion.
