Will Vote In Paparua

Forty electors in Lincoln township who are "under notice” to transfer from the Paparua county to the Ellesmere county by amalgamation will vote in Paparua in the local body elections on October 9.

At the Paparua County Council’s meeting last night, the County Clerk (Mr A. Kelly) said that although November 1 was suggested as the date of amalgamation, the electors now in Paparua would not be able to vote in Ellesmere.

He explained difficulties in getting the Paparua voters transferred in time to the Ellesmere electoral roll, and said that the Internal Affairs Department agreed that to have the amalgamation on October 1 would cause confusion.
