Whereas cattle were previously judged outside the main show ring, this year all cattle judging will take place in the main ring where there is now sufficiept space.

Because there has been insufficient support at recent shows, the Large Black section in the pig show has been deleted. Mr Studholme said this breed had been catalogued at the Canterbury show since 1906. Another alteration in the pig section affects the porker and bacon competition. For the coming show, both pigs will be slaughtered, whereas the practice in the past has been to slaughter only one of the two pigs.

Again thia year the judges for some sections will come from overseas. One of the overseas judges will be Mr H. Llewellyn Richards. of Brecon, Wales. He is a wellknown judge of ponies throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland and the United States. He also has a reputation as a breeder of Welsh ponies, Mr Studholme said.

The judge o< the Menno classes will again be an Australian—this time. Mr G. T. Walker of Yass, New South Wales, who is proprietor of the well-known Ledgworth Merino stud. Another Australian, also from New South Wales, who has been invited to judge, is Mr F. R. Hood, of Kywanna, Albury, who will judge the Beef Shorthorns. Mr Hood will be judging at the Royal Show in Palmerston North.
