Here is a story about ! Australia’s drought ? i brought back by Messrs / ; M. S. Turton and E. G. ; Moon, of Mid-Canterbury, !; ; who have just returned ! from a visit to some of ! I Australia’s outbacks and ; i its drought-stricken pas- ; ; toral lands. It was the ; ; subject of a note in an ■ ; Australian newspaper. A < grazier was complaining ! that while feeding wheat ; i to sheep he was followed ; ’ by kangaroos, emus and ; ; brolgas, which managed j ; to steel a lot of the grain ' ; before the sheep could get I ; it. “You are lucky,” his ; i neighbour commented. ; ! “On feeding days my kan- ; 1 garoos not only eat their ; ]; fill but before they leave I ;; they fill their pouches.” ! ! ********************
