PRISON RIOT INQUIRIES

Deputation From P.S.A.

The Public Service Association wants to be represented at the Commissions of Inquiry into the recent prison riots at Mount Eden and Paparua. The Prime Minister' (Mr Holyoake) and the Minister of Justice (Mr Hanan) have received a deputation from the association asking for this right. They are considering the matter, it is understood. Anticipating a favourable reply, the association has contacted Mr E. A. Lee, S.M., who has been appointed to inquire into the Paparua prison riot, for permission to be represented, and watch the interests of the prison officers, who are members of the Public Service Association.
