“ACCIDENT” PREDICTED
Collapse By Driver A motorist will collapse at the wheel and his car will hit a lamp post near the Waicola shopping centre next Friday evening. His three passengers will suffer serious injuries, and the car will be wrecked. This prophecy is not quite as grim as it appears, since the accident will be “staged” by the Hornby division of the St. John Ambulance Association.
In fact, the accident will happen twice. The first time the public will see the injuries which can be sustained in such an incident, how full first aid is given to victims, and how bystanders can be of assistance.
After the second smash the car will catch fire. St. John Ambulance members will extinguish the blaze, and, because this time it will be assumed that there is a hospital close to the scene, the passengers will receive only minor first aid and will be rushed off as quickly as possible. “It is going to be an involved accident to run, but we hope it will go as planned,” said Mr C. R. Hamblin, who is organising the display. “It will serve as a warning to the public in the coming summer season to take care on the roads.” . „ . All units of the Hornby combined division of the St. John Ambulance Association, ambulance and nursing cadets, police and traffic officers, will take part
