SALVATION ARMY CAMP
Completion By March Planned
Central heating will be installed in the Salvation Army camp on the Gientui river, it was decided at a recent .meeting of the Glentui Camp advisory board. Weekly work parties have been assisting the builders and already two-thirds of the foundations have been laid. The major roof trusses have been erected and the block layers are beginning work on the walls.
Recent low-lying snow has not held up work, and it has not been an uncomomn sight this winter to see dozens of city dwellers working on the project in the snow. Telephones have been flitted to the camp and builders are now resident on the site. The roadway into the camp has been widened and remetalled. When completed the camp will provide accommodation for 130 —dormitory accommodation for 100 and 30 double rooms with two single beds. A self-contained, two-bedroom flat situated above the kitchen will provide suitable quarters for conference leaders and their families.
Captain Brian McStay, the press officer for the Salvation Army in Christchurch, said that he hoped the camp would be completed by March next year.
