Military Service

Sir—Your writer in “Comment from the Capital” advocated compulsory military service overseas for juvenile members of society in addition to their service within New Zealand. In today's issue the Home Servicemen’s Association advocates universal military training. 1 wonder if these people are conscious of what they are suggesting? Because our over-21 males will not volunteer for military service overseas, some people consider our under-21 males should be conscripted. In the interests of democracy 1 believe the people responsible for this undemocratic thinking should be invited to explain their sugestions.—Yours, etc., J.W.M. September 1, 1965.
