PUBLISHED BY COURTESY OF CHRISTCHURCH STAR Gordon Cooper and Charles Conrad have been bathing with a special surgical soap to avoid body odour while cramped together during their scheduled eight day flight Body odour presented one minor problem during the 98 hour flight of United States astronauts James McDivitt and Edward White in June. As a result, Cooper and Conrad for the past week or so have been using a soap containing Hexachlorophene which kills skin bacteria. 99 Since 1955 G.ll Hexachlorophene'has been used consistently throughout the world to help prevent skin infections caused by the H. Bug and other harmful bacteria. Today G.ll even goes into space—for astronauts have found it necessary in space flight to prevent body odour, by eliminating many of the same bacteria with G.ll Hexachlorophene.
