FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—The anti-cyclone covering New Zealand is moving slowly eastwards. Forecast:

Canterbury and Kaikoura Coast.—Moderate variable winds, mainly north-east o nthe coast; fine, with rising temperatures. Outlook: fine. Central Marlborough, the Sounds and Nelson. —Moderate variable winds, north-easterlies about the sounds; fine, with moderate to mild afternoon temperatures. Outlook: fine.

Buller and Westland. —Moderate winds, mainly from the westerly quarter; rather cloudy, with a few scattered light showers in the south; little change in temperature. Outlook: cloudy, with light rain in Westland.
