The Gemini V spacecraft carries its own survival kits for the astronauts in the event of an emergency splashdown beyond immediate reach of recovery forces. The package for each man Includes 14 items and weighs 231 b. Each package includes: 3jib of drinking water, a machete, life raft sea anchor to keep the raft steady, water dye markers, a sun bonnet, a radio beacon, battery lights, a compass, sun-glasses, a medical kit, and a kit to desalt water for drinking.
The medical packet contains an injection for pain, an injection for motion sickness, and tablets of aspirin, stimulants. pain-killer and antibiotics..
The life raft, s|ft long and 3ft wide, has its own bottle of carbon dioxide to inflate
