FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An anti-cyclone over the Tasman Sea is moving slowly eastwards. Forecast:

Canterbury.—Light to moderate variable winds; extensive areas of fog and low cloud this morning and again tonight, but fine in most places in the afternoon, with moderate temperatures. Outlook: little change.

Marlborough and Nelson.—Light to moderate variable winds; fine with mild afternoon temperatures. Outlook: fine.

West Coast.—Light to moderate westerlies; cloudy with moderate temperatures. Outlook: cloudy.
