Preventive Detention

(N.Z: Press Association) AUCKLAND, August 27. A man found guilty of having set fire to a flat after a woman who was living with him left him, was sentenced in the Supreme Court to a term of preventative detention. Noel James Reid, aged 40, a yardman, was found guilty of arson, theft from a dwellinghouse, five charges of false pretences and two of obtaining credit by fraud. He denied toe offences.

Mr Justice Perry also sent Robert Graham Drummond, aged 34, to gaol for three months on a charge of managing a company while he was an undischarged bankrupt. Drummond had pleaded guilty.
