NEW PARISH FORMED

Presbyterians In Bishopdale A new Presbyterian parish St. Margaret’s, has been formed in the suburb of Bishopsdale. About 100 members of the St. Gile’s Presbyterian Church, Papanui, have been transferred to the new parish.

This information was given in the annual report to the St. Giles congregation by the minister (the Rev. R. W Simpson) who said that in spite of the transfer, the St Giles membership was building up again and there were now 513 communicants.

Income for the year was £5200 and the congregation had met its full quota of £1575 for missions and the Presbyterian Assembly. A new pipe organ was being installed and should be in use by next April. The five women’s groups in the parish had affiliated with the Association of Presbyterian Women and would in future co-ordin-ate their activities through a linking committee.
