Finalists Found In Junior Tennis

Rain prevented play in the Canterbury junior hard court tennis tournament at Wilding Park yesterday, but the tournament is expected to be concluded today. If it is wet again, matches will be held tomorrow. The most notable semifinal on Wednesday was in the under 17 boys' singles. D. Archer, of Rakaia, who eliminated the top seed on the first day. went out himself to D. Blackwell, of Cashmere High School, Another Rakaia boy. S. Cowie, who had been seeded second, was beaten by L. Shirwin, of Christchurch Boys’ High School, seeded third, without the Ws of a game.

In the under 19 boys' singles final, two Christchurch Boys’ High School players, J. Griffiths and D. Meredith, will meet. Neither was seeded. Griffiths put out the top seed on the first day and Meredith, a late entry, beat the second seeded P. McGoldbrick and then the third seeded L Rogers, of Southland. S. Bruce and J.
