Bovs' Brigade Course
With 12 members attending the Boys’ Brigade’s senior non-commissioned officers’ Christian leadership course at Trentham. the Canterbury Battalion has the largest contingent. Forty-three n.c.o.'s are attending the course, which began last Saturday and will end this Saturday.
To give a broad outlook to the course guest instructors from varied occupations are taking part. They include Sergeant J. J. Page (police training school). Messrs N. E. Palmer (Institute of Technology). N. S. Woods (Assistant Secretary of Labour), and speakers from the Y.M.C.A., the Hutt Valley Electric Power and Gas Board and the leadership training department of the National Council of Churches.
The course is designed to prepare those taking part for leadership and responsibilities in their own Boys’ Brigade companies and churches and also in the community. It embraces Christian education, physical training, competitive and ceremonial drill, the movement’s history, leadership, careers, the badge system, and sport.
