Close Call For Yesberg (N.Z. Press Association) I WELLINGTON, August 25. The 1964 New Zealand titleholder, T. Yesberg, Canterbury, came within an ace of defeat on the third day of the New Zealand billiards championships at Wellington today. Yesberg could only score a four-point win over his less experienced opponent, N. Hansen, North Otago. The win enabled Yesberg to qualify for the quarter-finals. Results: — T. Yesberg (Canterbury) beat N. Hansen (North Otago), 326-322; R. Young (Otago) beat J. Proctor (Southland), 390-343; J. Clark (West Coast) beat F. Holz (South Auckland), 439-353: L. Napper (Otago) beat J. Mason (South Auckland), 656-296: E. Simons (Canterbury) beat F. Hawken (Auckland), 608-355 Best breaks: Napper. 73, 63. 50, 40: Hansen, 61; Holz, 60. 51: Simons. 47. 42, 41; Hawken, 51 unfinished.
