Mr F. Mellish, Former Springbok, Dies
CAPETOWN. August 22. Mr Frank Mellish, former chairman of the South African Rugby selection committee, died in Cape Town yesterday. Tonight, Mr Kobus Louw, manager of the Springbok team touring New Zealand, said in Timaru: "Mr Mellish was the only South African to have played Rugby both for England and South Africa.” He said that Mr Mellish did a wonderful job for Rugby as a member of the South African Rugby Board and as

(manager of the 1951-52 Springbok team which toured Britain and France. New Zealand will remember Mr Mellish as a player in the 1921 Springbok team and his name had been men- . tioned many times during the (present tour. ] “We pay homage to an outstanding man and I will be sad to return to South Africa and know that Frank Mellish will not be there to greet us,” Mr Louw said. “We give our sympathy to all his relatives.”
