BIG BALLET COMPANY

26 Dancers In Rehearsals (N.Z. Press Association) I WELLINGTON, August 22. I The New Zealand Ballet Company will begin rehearsals with the largest touring company of its history—26 dancers —at the Wellington Opera House tomorrow. The first programmes of the spring season will include the second act of “Swan Lake,” Michael Charnley’s “Symphony for Fun” and a work closely associated with the New Zealand Ballet, “Prismatic Variations." The company has engaged the Australian-born ballerina, Marilyn Burr, and her husband. Jean-Paul Comelin, as guest principals for the season. The company will also be joined by Terry Westmoreland, of Wellington. He has been overseas for eight years, part of the time as a solo dancer with the Royal Ballet. Mr Westmoreland is the fifth New Zealand ballet bursar to be brought home to the company by the Ballet Trust since 1962. The tour will open at the Theatre Royal, Timaru, on September 11.
