Two South Island Plays In Drama League Final

DUNEDIN, August 22. Six plays have been selected for the national finals of the British Drama League. The plays were chosen by the judge. Mr John Kim, of Christchurch. Mr E. Kemys, of the
national executive of the British Drama League, Wellington, made the announcement at a gathering of producers, casts and the executive of the Otago area of the league. An original play, “The Long Wait,” presented by the Milton Drama Club, and “The Wedding” presented by the Elmwood Players, Christchurch, are the only two plays from the South Island. Three plays were selected from the divisional finals held at Hamilton. They were: “The Escape of Harry Stringer” (Community Players’ Workshop, Auckland), “The Tinkers’ Wedding” (Te Aroha Dramatic Society) and “The Proposal” (Matamata Dramatic Society). “Rise and Shine,” presented by St. Mary’s Drama Club. Wanganui, was chosen from the divisional finals held at Hawera.
Mr Richard Campion will judge the national finals in Palmerston North early next month.
