14 Injured On Roads
Nine persons were admitted to hospital after road accidents in and near Christchurch during the week-end in which 14 persons were injured. Car Hits Tree.—Three persons were admitted to the Christchurch Hospital after a car struck a tree at Little River last evening. They are Lois Frayiey, of 10 Surrey street, Lloyd Cable, of the Red Lion Hotel, Rangiora, and Penelope Wright, of 109 Leaver terrace. All suffered head injuries. Car Hits Bridge.—James Neil McLeod, of 165 Clyde road, suffered facial injuries when a car travelling towards Christchurch struck a bridge at Church Bay early on Saturday. He was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital.
I Broken Leg.—A broken leg w-as suffered by Bertram I Owen Hopkins, aged 72, of [421 Tuam street, when he was hit by a car when crossling Stanmore road near I Forth street about 6.15 p.m. i on Saturday. He was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital. Child Injured.— When she , ran across Riccarton avenue ' near the Christchurch Hospi- , tai at about 10.40 a.m. on ' Saturday Glenda Wilcock, ' aged three, of 208 Shortland , street, was hit by a car. She ' was admitted to the hospital j suffering from head injuries. 1 Two Injured.— Gay Suckling, of 35 Bellbrook crescent > and Franklin Woodford, of • 14 Denver street, suffered ; head injuries when a car and ■ a cycle collided at the corner ! of Cambridge terrace and 1 Worcester street about 11 1 a.m. yesterday. They were ■ admitted to the Christchurch Hospital.
Head Injuries.—Head injuries were suffered by Yvonne Smith, of 7 Kitchener place, when two cars collided at the corner of Waltham and Shakespeare roads about 4 p.m. on Saturday. She was treated at the Christchurch Hospital. Three Hurt.— When two ears collided in Hilltop road early yesterday three persons were injured. William Shaw, of 99 Bristol street, was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital suffering from facial and head injuries. Ena Sheehan, of Fitzgerald House, and Murray Shaw, of 18 Heath street, were treated for facial lacerations. Car Rolls Over.—Robert Taylor, of Domett suffered leg injuries, and Keith Crosado, of 239 Hereford street, suffered chest injuries when a car rolled over on the Main North road on Saturday evening. They were treated at the Christchurch Hospital. l
