(N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright) CANBERRA. August 22. Mr D. W. McNicol has been appointed High Commissioner for Australia in New Zealand. He will succeed Dr. D. A. Cameron, who will retire early in November. Announcing the appointment today, the Minister for External Affairs (Mr Paul Hasluck) said Mr McNicol had been High Commissioner in Pakistan since 1962. He will leave Karachi about the end of next month and is expected to take up his duties in Wellington in November. Mr McNicol is a career diplomat, having served in the Australian Embassies in Tokyo and Washington. He was the Commissioner in Saigon for two years and from early in 1957 to 1960 was Australian Commissioner in Singapore.
