MERGER OF COUNTIES
Mount Herbert Interested “A good move,” said Cr. R. Allan, when the Mount Herbert County Council yesterday agreed to consider a join amalgamation with Heathcote and Halswell counties, as was projosed at Baisweil's meeting on Thursday. The chairman (Mr J. H. Mathias) said that Mount Herbert’s interest in amalgamating with Heathcote should be extended to include Halswell. The council adopted a motion along these lines. Cr E. R. Radcliffe said that Halswell proposed to re-open discussions for an amalgamation with Heathcote. Mount Herbert should be included in these discussions. It was agreed to ask that Mount Herbert be allowed to join in the discussions.
