Absent-Minded Author

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, August 16. Absent-mindedness caused an American author, Richard Tregaskis, several anxious hours in Auckland today. He flew into Auckland from Tahiti clutching a big black ledger containing research notes for a magazine series he is writing on beaches of the world. Two aircraft from overseas had landed within minutes and the terminal was crowded with passengers and friends. Mr Tregaskis got to his hotel without a bag that had been carried on to Sydney. Then he looked for the big black book and it was missing. It was later found on an airline counter where he had put it down and forgotten it.
