ENGINEDRIVER TRAINEES WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE AN ENGINEDRIVER YOUNG MEN BETWEEN 17 AND 27 YEARS of age are required for training in the New Zealand Railways as future enginedrivers. Thorough training will be given those accepted at one of the principal Locomotive depots and successful trainees can progress to Locomotive Assistants within a year of service. Qualification is by examination and additional instruction is given to ensure early passes. First class enginedrivers are promoted to Road Foremen and Locomotive Supervisors with service and experience and qualify for salaries from £1380—£1915 per annum. Members join the Government Supperannuation Fund and Railway Welfare Society and are eligible for reduced rail travel privileges and first class passes for annual leave.
