Marr First In P.G.A.

Dave Marr shot a par 71 in sweltering heat to take the first prize of 25,000 dollars in the United States Professional Golfers’ Association championship in Ligonier yesterday. Marr, who has never won a major tounament before, finished at 280 for a two-stroke victory over Billy Casper and Jack Nicklaus who faded back in the final holes over the 6090-yard par-71 Laurel Valley golf club. They each shot 71 today. New Zealand’s R. J. Charles shot a 72 for a total of 295, and won 6.02 dollars.
