Opawa Eyesore

Sir, —Many residents are concerned at the council’s putting an ugly building on the riverbank at Opawa. There are few parts of Christchurch where this would be tolerated. Would Cr. Hay like it put in front of his residence? I am sure he would not It should not be necessary for residents to take a petition for the removal of an eyesore like this. A junior library is a good idea—but not there. Why not shift it to “Risingholme,” where the council has plenty of space? —Yours, etc.

ANXIOUS RESIDENT. August 16, 1965.
