CONTRACTORS’ CONFERENCE

Record Number Attending More than 300 members of tl e New Zealand Associated General Contractors’ Federation will gather in Christchurch this week for the federation’s twenty-first annual conference.

Registrations, which are a record for the federation, include 15 leading contractors from Australia. These will include the president of the Earthmovers’ Association of New South Wales (Mr D. S. Pearce) and the executive director of the association (Mr E. A. Bech). Membership of the New Zealand federation has increased from 30 members at the inaugural meeting in 1944 to more than 1000. The Canterbury branch which is numerically the largest in New Zealand with 140 members operates plant to the value of more than £3m.
