Eye Tests For Drivers Likely

WELLINGTON, August 15. Holders of driving licences may have to undergo regularly eyesight tests before their licences are renewed, the Commissioner of Transport (Mr R. J. Polaschek) said today. The Transport Department was almost ready to make such recommendations to the Government, he said.

At present any person who wishes to qualify for a driver’s licence must undergo a compulsory eyesight test. But no further eyesight tests are required till the holder is 70 when he must have a compulsory medical check each year. f-
