Commonwealth Games The Commonwealth and Empire Games Promotion Committee in Canterbury has prepared 75 pages of submissions supporting its claim for the next games to be held in Christchurch. Copies have been sent to every member of the executive of the New Zealand Olympic and British Empire Games Association, which is to meet in Wellington next Tuesday to consider claims and decide on which should be supported nationally. “The submisssions comprehensively and impressively set out all the facts, which show conclusively that the city of Christchurch can conduct the commonwealth games with considerable success,” said the chairman of the Canterbury promotion committee (Mr H. P. Smith) yesterday Mr Smith said that a meeting had been held with representatives of all interested sports association, who were informed that the Canterbury case would be supported by a deputation to the meeting in Wellington. The deputation would be: — Messrs R. S. Scott, chairman of the publicity committee. C. W. Hamann, chairman of the facilities committee, J. B. Taylor, chairman of the finance committee, and E. H. Williams, general secretary.
