WELLINGTON, August 11.
The gate takings at the Springboks’ matches to date this tour are up by £41,890 on the figure at the corresponding stage of the 1956 tour.
The chairman of fhe New Zealand Rugby Union (Mr T. C. Morrison) announcing this today, said: "The nine games where a comparison is possible show that a total of 241,549 have attended this tour as against 225.500 in 1956. •“The takings for the same games this year are £119,042: in 1956 they were £77,152.” Admission charges for both tours are the same except that charges to the ground for provincial matches have increased from 4s to ss. Mr Morrison added: “The increase in gates has come through the greatly increased number of reserved seats, both covered and uncovered. '
